Fake Tan Test: St Tropez Bronzing Mousse

Jordan McDowell completes his tan quest with the best

Fake Tan Test: St Tropez Bronzing Mousse

Tanning product: St Tropez Bronzing Mousse

Price: £20.00 p/120ml Bottle, Mitt £3.50.

Consistency:

Just what you’d expect from a tanning mousse: bubbly and diarrhoea brown.

Only, St Tropez Bronzing Mousse isn’t quite like other tan mousses. It won one of the In Style Magazine’s Best Beauty Buys 2011 Awards in the Tanning and Body category.

In Style’s skin specialist Emma Hardie said: “Quick and easy to apply, it creates an even, non-streaky finish.”

Body Confidential’s tan guinea pig, Jordan McDowell, has to agree. By using the mitt, the tan glides easily over any terrain and is think enough to stick around whilst you double check you’ve not missed any bits.

Hair Factor:

Great for body hair coverage. This product is wet enough to not lose face but light enough to ensure body hair doesn’t stick to the skin during application. It is best to buff in smaller circular motions at an increased speed over shrubbery.

Streak factor:

Darling, the kids at St Tropez don’t do streaks. This biblical miracle will leave you looking as if you have actually been to St Tropez/Benidorm/Faliraki (delete as applicable).

Aroma:

The Aroma of a self tan is usually the worst bit. It’s normally the tell-tale sign that our golden hue is DIY.

Not with St Tropez.

The now famous scent, which can only be described as akin to Pimm’s garnished with cucumber and lime, is ever present in this 120ml bottle. Added to this, the scent only pongs for the duration of your application. Wake, wash and it’s gone.

Longevity:

This stain is pretty hardcore. With upkeep and care expect a week of saintly bronzed skin.

Tan out of ten?

All hail St Tropez, the patron saint of self tan.
