FEET should be pampered all year round in my opinion.
It’s not just summer you have to bare your tootsies. With the party season is in full swing and a pair of peep-toes with my name on them, I couldn’t resist a visit to the Lowry Spa to give my feet a seeing to.
My pedicure of choice was the Three Kings Pedicure and if you read on you’ll see why I was drawn to this particular Christmas-inspired indulgence.
The therapist began by placing my feet in a hot milk bath with frankincense oils - the perfect antidote after trudging about in the rain and the cold.
Arriving at the spa, I’d expected to sit in a chair, roll up my trousers and have a bog standard pedicure. In actual fact, this luxurious treatment involved changing into a dressing gown and slippers – the full works.
Once seated at the manicure station, the therapist began by placing my feet in a hot milk bath with frankincense oils - the perfect antidote after trudging about in the rain and the cold.
As my feet soaked away she talked me through the whole treatment which would include essential oils and gold droplets that would leave my feet all sparkly.
After five minutes of soaking, one foot was removed from the milk bath and the therapist started to work her magic, exfoliating the skin with a foot rasp followed by a myrrh and sea salts scrub. She then put cuticle cream on my cuticles and asked me to place my foot back in the milk bath before repeating the same steps with the other foot. Meanwhile, I was presented with a hot chocolate and milk and white chocolate cookies. Apparently this treatment is a treat for your feet and your stomach.
Following a rigorous scrub to get my feet all soft, she then went on to getting my cuticles into shape. For this, a magic machine was used that whizzed my cuticles into perfect condition; no need for trimming with this gadget. My toenails were then filed and left looking uniform in no time at all. A moisturising foot mask followed and my feet were then placed in heated booties for 15 minutes.
After being washed off, the mask revealed silky soft feet. I could really see a definite difference in the tone and feel of my feet and to be honest I’d have gone home very happy at this point. But there was even more moisturising treats in store.
Each foot was treated to a well deserved massage with essential oils followed by rubbing gold sparkles into my skin to leave them twinkling and fitting for the festive season.
The Lowry Spa uses Orly nail varnish which is said to be one of Victoria Beckham’s favourite ranges. I normally go for slut red for my nails as a rule, but an emerald green colour caught my eye this time. The therapist applied two coats and to give my toes an extra shine she finished with a shiny top coat.
It’s probably the longest amount of time my feet have ever had dedicated to them and you won’t be surprised to learn that after 75 minutes of pedicure action, the results were amazing. Soft to the touch, glowing with health and sparkling for the season – you’ll never want to neglect your feet again. Definitely a pedicure made in peep-toe heaven.
The Three Kings Pedicure is available all December for £55 – to find out more simply click here
