In The Spotlight: Burren Perfumery

In The Spotlight: Burren Perfumery

Based in County Clare, Ireland, it was Burren Perfumery’s sublime Cedar & Lemongrass Hand Cream (€15 for 60ml) which originally caused my head to spin off my shoulders and take a closer look at this company.

I have a bathroom and bedroom stuffed to the gilders with the crème de la crème of organic and natural skincare, so it takes an exceptional product for me to sit up and take notice – and this was one of them.

This is one of my must-have creams to keep your hands in tip-top condition right through autumn and winter.

With a subtle, mouth-watering lemon scent and a lightly-whipped mousse-like texture that, although initially feels a little greasy, is quickly absorbed into the hands, this is one of my must-have creams to keep your hands in tip-top condition right through autumn and winter. And with a Soil Association certification of 87.6 per cent organic, you can rest assured you’re feeding your skin nothing but the best.

But that’s not all.

Their Honey & Beeswax Organic Lip and Face Balm (€8.50 for 15ml) is also luscious and deeply nourishing. I slather it on last thing at night and let it do its thing. Suffice to say, it does its thing extremely well as my lips are always super soft on waking. Plus it’s certified 100 per cent organic by the Soil Association. If you spend time outdoors, I particularly recommend you keep this wee balm with you while out in the wilds of our increasingly woolly weather.

What’s more, to celebrate the launch of their organic creams and balms, there’s free worldwide shipping on those products – a damn good deal if you ask me.

Among other personal favourites in the range are their 100 per cent organic Bath Sea Salts in Invigorating Citrus and Relaxing Lavender (€10 for 230gm), which have often provided me heavenly respite in the bathroom, especially when accompanied by their Soy Candles (100 per cent essential oils and no synthetics). Unfortunately, though, I’ve been harbouring Burren’s products for so long, they’re now reformulating their candles and are busy working on new ones. Still, when they do re-release them make sure you’re at the front of the queue as they’re gorgeous (and that’s coming from a self-confessed candle fiend).

Although I’ve not tried them, I’ve heard numerous rave reviews among the natural and organic skincare community about their perfumes and classic fragrances. Their Botanicals Range, in particular, is inspired by the scents of the changing seasons. The Autumn Harvest range, for example, has been blended to invoke the scents one might encounter on a walk in the autumn woods with deep woody notes of blackberry leaves and blackcurrant, mixed with the scent of nettles and wild marjoram. And the best bit is, none of the products contain any parabens, sodium lauryl sulphate, animal derivatives, genetically modified ingredients, or colourants. Perfect.
