Karin Herzog’s BSpa at the Altis Belém review

IT seems that every time I get on a plane I get sick. People suggest it’s the recycled air or exposure to foreign germs… whatever it is, it’s annoying.

Dr. Paul Herzog, the brains behind the brand, has created a skincare line that combines the most advanced technology with ancient Oriental rituals.

On a recent trip to Portugal, I was reintroduced to the beauty line—and eponymous spa—Karin Herzog. In case you haven’t heard of the line, it’s a UK-based beauty range known the world over as the innovator in oxygen-therapy products.

Dr. Paul Herzog, the brains behind the brand, has created a skincare line that combines the most advanced technology with ancient Oriental rituals. So what does that mean for us?

Well, for me it meant a relaxing, revitalizing and thoroughly hydrating post-plane spa treatment (sorry, didn’t mean to rub it in). I mean, what better way to start a mini-break than with glowing, fresh skin? The shoulder and foot massage didn’t hurt either. And let’s not forget that there are millions of germs on the skin (probably more when you travel), so a deep clean and a little lymphatic stimulation never hurt anyone’s immune system.

BSpa is one of those spas you want to spend some quality time in—from the large indoor pool, sauna, hamam, outdoor infinity pool and sundeck (Yoga, Tai-Chi Chuan or Chi-Kung anyone?), what more could you ask for?

What really makes this line remarkable is that the products deliver oxygen, vitamins A and E, glucose and water directly to the skin by topical application—and without chemicals or preservatives. By doing so they clean and detoxify deep down, enabling the skin to function more efficiently. Their philosophy is ‘Let Skin Breathe’, and I am a newly converted believer.

Open every day 10am – 8pm, Altis Belém, Doca do Bom Sucesso 1400-038 Lisbon, Portugal, +(35) 1 210 400 220 or bspa@altisbelemhotel.com.
