I SAMPLE countless skincare and beauty products which vary wildly on the natural/organic/clean skincare spectrum. Thorough reviewer that I am, I’m not always the fastest off the block when it comes to sharing my findings with the group. I aim to remedy that in 2012.
Anyway, a tub-full of Eternal Aloe Super Hydrating Moisturiser landed on my doorstep last summer (I know, I know – told you I’m woefully slow). Aimed primarily at mothers-to-be, here’s their blurb:
All mothers-to-be know the importance of keeping their skin well moisturised during pregnancy. Although stretch marks are never completely preventable, using a good quality, rich body moisturiser can help minimise them as much as possible.
Something not all mums know, however, is how important it is to avoid certain skincare ingredients during pregnancy, and that a moisturiser containing naturally derived ingredients can significantly benefit both mother and unborn baby.
Eternal Skincare‘Sixty per cent of what we put on our skin goes into our bodies’ says founder of Eternal Skincare, Robin Aspinall. ‘That’s why it’s best to avoid moisturisers which contain controversial preservatives such as parabens, especially when pregnant.’
Eternal Aloe Super Hydrating Moisturiser by Eternal Skincare contains a high proportion of organically grown Aloe Leaf Juice, well known for its incredible skin repairing qualities. Free from parabens and other potentially harmful stabilisers, Eternal Skincare’s luxurious moisturiser contains a plethora of decadent, natural ingredients, such as calendula oil and shea butter. The result is one of the finest and most gentle moisturising blends available – ideal for expectant mums and babies.
‘In January 2011, Denmark announced a ban on parabens in all skincare products for children under three,’ continues Robin. ‘Although parabens are still legal in the UK, our ethos is it’s better to be safe than sorry, especially during pregnancy. Our advice to expectant mums would be to check the packaging small print carefully; skincare brands don’t openly advertise the fact they use parabens, but they do have to declare this by law on their ingredients list.’
As someone who isn’t expecting, I took it on holiday instead. Never mind mums-to-be, turns out this stuff is fabulous as an after-sun moisturiser. Good lord, I couldn’t slather enough of it on. Hands-down, it’s one of the best after-sun moisturisers I’ve ever used. It’s also holding its own this winter, as we all know how dry skin gets battling the elements and central heating during this wild and woolly season.
All in all, I highly recommend it.
