What a difference one drop containing seven magic oils can make...

Ok, it’s an obvious choice for this week’s ‘I just can’t get enough of...’ column.

We’re in cold and flu season for a start. Plus anyone who suffers from sinusitis or allergies will know that any product that can help you breath easily is a Godsend.

Body Confidential editor Lynda Moyo, is one such person.

Upon realising she’d become dependent on nasty nasal sprays (read here for more about nasal spray addiction) she took the recommendation of a Tweeter to ‘have a facial steam bath with a couple of drops of essential oil, to relieve sinus pressure’ and invested in a bottle of good old Olbas (£3.19 from Boots). It’s a powerful natural concoction of pure plant oils.

Not only did it get rid of the pressure headache, she managed to go without a tissue for at least half a day and had her best night’s sleep in six months. Result.

So what’s in Olbas that makes it better than other decongestants? The lucky seven of course:

Cajuput Oil – a pungent oil that’s known for its antiseptic properties.

Clove Oil – another antiseptic that’s also used to relieve pain.

Eucalyptus Oil – a decongestant used to relieve the symptoms of colds and flu.

Juniperberry Oil – as well as being an anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antiseptic, it’s also known to help clear the mind. Great when you’re feeling down in the dumps with a snotty nose.

Levomenthol – eases congestion.

Methyl Salicylate – another antiseptic ingredient.

Mint Oil – an invigorating oil, it reduces inflammation in the nasal passages.

Vicks contains only two of the above ingredients. Enough said.
