Polaroid is back

Three years since its extinction, the instant snapper comes back from the dead...

Polaroid is back

Just as you'd come to terms with the fact that the future is digital, Polaroid has made a comeback for summer 2010.

Their new analogue instant camera prints out photos just like in the good old days. The difference this time is that Lady Gaga is the creative director. Yes, adding yet another random string to her haute couture bow, the pop star has been recruited to help propel Polaroid into an age where we're so used to uploading straight to the computer.

The Polaroid 300 Instant Analogue Camera takes business card size instant colour photos and comes in a variety of vivid colours. It actually looks a lot like an underwater camera, but it isn't, so snap away on dry land only.

Will it take off? Well, there's a divide when it comes to photography. Some people enjoy old fashioned techniques, whereas the variety of high quality digital cameras now available means that photos taken that way are much more cost effective and easily tweaked with programs such as Photoshop.

Still, it's nice to know that Polaroid has been made available once again for those looking for a bit of nostalgia or playful pics. And even if the novelty doesn't last, you'll always have a piece of history if you do decide to buy one, especially if you missed out the first time around.

The Polaroid 300 prints 1.8” x 2.4” pictures with the original Polaroid border effect. If you fancy one, get yours for £79.99 from Firebox.
