“Your head is like an egg” is a phrase many a mother will have repeatedly drilled into their children's minds during conversations about the importance of wearing a bike helmet.
But it’s not nagging. According to figures recorded by Cycle Claims, in any year around 16,000 cyclists in the UK have a bike accident while riding on the road and the casualty rate for cyclists is almost 100 times greater than car users.
Most times it is probably just a few broken bones to the body, but when it comes to your skull, a helmet really can be a matter of life or death. Yet many people still choose not to wear them, all because of the look.
Yakkay is a Danish company that has designed bike helmets with both style and safety in mind. The ‘light bulb’ head look has been cleverly disguised with different hats.
There are several distributors in the UK, but we found the biggest range at www.50cycles.com. Prices start from £79.95.

I'm guessing you're recycling a press release here rather than claiming to present any actual facts about road safely. Even so: the idea that the casualty rate for cycling is 100x higher than that of travelling by car can't be left unchallenged. Figures from the latest DfT report on road casualties show 17,064 cycling casualties (of all levels of severity); casualties in cars (including passengers) total 143,412. Perhaps you should run a plug for this very elegant car motorist's crash helmet too:

No press release was used actually Pedalling Pedant. I just happened to conme across this product and like it enough to want to recommend it. The company did not approach us nor did they paste their website address into the rants for a bit of free advertising ;-)
I withdraw the allegation, then, with apologies! (But not the point about relative levels of safety...) But I assure you I have nothing to do either with Copenhagen or with dodgy 80s Australian plastic car-hats (though of course I'm a huge fan of both...)
And to knock the stat's for cycle helmets, pedant also ignores *hugely* different numbers using the roads: Stand on any street for 5mins anytime and anywhere in Manchester. Compare total number of drivers *and* of their passengers [= the DfT stats] that go by in cars, with number going by in that same time on a bike. Do the math, then still fancy a joke about drivers should wear helmets?
"When the truck's wing mirror hit me on the back of the head some of the impact was absorbed by my helmet," he said, going on to say that had his helmet not done so, he would have been killed.
Mr Cracknell said that later tests and conversations with a neurologist "revealed some harsh truths". Sept 25th report

Relative levels of safety anyone ...?
Only the British could come up with sommit like this. Look at Holland, land of the cyclists - anyone wearing any of this rubbish, lycra etc? No way!
"Only the British could come up with sommit like this", or Whalley Ranger, the Danish, as they came up with it.
Damnedlies, don't try and reason with them, it doesn't work.
