About the blogger: Accidental Chinese Hipsters is a new blog created by 25-year-old Alison Kuo, a half Chinese, half American art student from Boston.

What is it about? Accidental Chinese Hipsters documents random Chinese folk unintentionally sporting hipster fashion with more nonchalance than any pedigree western hipster worth his weight in brogues.

Pictures of accidental hipsters are submitted to the blog from people around the globe who manage to catch an unsuspecting Chinese people on the move. The person in question is completely unaware of the style commandments many new age westerners live by.

But let’s face it, those caught on camera are doing a damn good job of creating the effortlessly edgy, avant-garde look those artsy-fashionistas try so hard to achieve.

Why do we love it? For a start, it’s banned in mainland China. Which means it’s a brilliant, free-spirited, joyous site. Most sites banned there tend to be. Read the list here.

But for those who can read it, you’ll love the general disregard the subjects have for trying to prove their individualism. It’s a try-hard-free zone and quite frankly puts our own hipsters, comically, to shame.

Hipsters are the new pantheon of cool; combining yuppie lifestyles with an ironically dour dress sense. You only have to take a quick jaunt through any trendy fashion quarter of any western city to witness the hoards of these style scensters decked out in their uniform 'vintage' apparel.

There are the retro blouses, car-boot-sale pants, tweed jackets, home-made jewellery and not forgetting a glossy mane of artfully waving hair. And that’s just the fellas.

The Accidental Chinese Hipsters however, don’t think beyond function and comfort and it’s the non-intentional nature of these fashion-forward folks that really gets us going here. Whichever city you’re in, when it comes to the fashion stakes, it's clearly ALL about China Town thanks to this brilliant blog.
