Girl about town

Camera in hand, I’m on the lookout for the best dressed people in Manchester. This week, I crossed and re-crossed Oxford Road a few times, running towards those with striking, intriguing, classic or just a well thought out sense of style. Surprisingly, even when asked politely some people can be rude and dismissive despite being complimented on the way they dress. However dressing well AND being pleasant definitely makes for a much better picture, so I thank all the lovely people who allowed me to snap them…

The following pictures, taken this week, show just how well the people of Manchester dress for the A/W season with a balance of practicality and style. When taking the pictures, I couldn’t help but notice all the wool knits everybody was wearing. Living in a cold city certainly makes people more adventurous in what and how they wear layers of clothes. Here are the looks that caught my eye…

1. I took this picture on Oxford Road, and loved how cozy this jumper looked. I instantly wanted to go vintage shopping to find the perfect cable knit jumper too.

2. I loved the way this man dressed. He had all the elements of a strong winter wardrobe - wool jumper, scarf and vintage duffle coat.

3. Without a doubt my favorite outfit of the day . Barbara Hulanicki dress and ‘Alexa’ Mulberry bag. Instant outfit envy. It also helped that she was lovely too.

4. Taken on New Wakefield Street. This is the kind of outfit I would wear and quite often do. Pretty vintage dress, ankle boots and a cardigan.

5. Yet another stylish duffle coat, worn with a bird print dress, and Oxford boots. Slightly edgy, yet still feminine.

6. Taken on Market Street. I loved how laid back yet cool this outfit was. Skate shoes, plaid shirt and Swedish army jacket. Perfect.
