The Confidential Challenge finale: for him

Week 16
Everybody doubted we would do it, and there is nothing sweeter than telling someone people “I told you so.”

However, I’m still dreading everyone seeing the ‘before’ pictures as they are a disgrace, but it does show how far I’ve come with the ‘after’ pictures. They are nowhere near Men’s Health standard or hunk level, but I’m in ten times better shape than I was four long months ago- and that’s an achievement.

It’s strange doing a naked photo shoot, but I have to say that For Your Eyes Only were amazing. I felt at ease by my photographer, Claire Legg, straight away. I was so pleased with the experience I am going to write a totally separate review the experience was that good. I have to confess though that some of the pictures are not for Confidential readers’ eyes but I have put one naked photo up.

Me and Helen have been reflecting on our achievements and here’s some of mine below:

- I enjoy exercise as I know what works

- I can run 10k now in 52 minutes even with joggers knee (even though you have hardly trained for such endurance type training – improving my athleticism can be transferred into any sport and make you better)

- Started with a 8kg kettle bell sessions now on 20kg for all exercises

- Bicep curls have gone from 6-8kg to 12-14kg

- Lost four inches off my waist

- Lost two inches off my neck

My greatest achievement is that I’m not fat anymore. My diet and lifestyle has change forever.

Although the figure can sometimes suggest things may be getting larger or the same, this is usually due to the muscle gain Chris is getting while losing fat. As explained on Helen’s programme, the area of space that’s say, 120cm around, may have much more fat than muscle, so when you replace that area with much more muscle and less fat, you may end up with similar measurements. The look however, will be drastically different and you will perform differently too.

Darren’s final thoughts
This proves you don’t need a gym. We have trained mostly outside or inside with minimal space using kettle bells and a few other secret tricks. Gyms don’t provide the most effective environment to achieve real results. They are designed for convenience. They also often lack staff that are skilled and experienced enough to correctly coach members competently - hence the rows of cardio machines and weight machines in gyms these days.

Chris had gone from being an inactive, unhealthy, low energy individual, to a rather lean, muscular, healthier and energetic man in just three months.

He has not been used to training, or had a previous history of being very sporty but he has managed to pick things up quick as a flash. He has burned the equivalent of 112,000 calories in total.

How has he done this? By training effectively, efficiently and competently at the correct rate and pace of progression. That’s how he has burned 9333 calories each week, by training no more than 30-40 minutes at a time, apart from the odd longer session within the last part of his training. The main point is that it has not taken 20 hours per week in the gym.

Instead, regular, small amounts of specifically designed planning that I have worked out with him and some secrets only exposed as a client of Elite fitness Training. Is what has made him achieve his goals. Elite Fitness Training is not the regular, cheaper personal training company, but we get the best results in the shortest time.

What would you pay to achieve these results, changing your body, elevating your health, vastly improving your energy and work rate? Your health is obviously priceless. Its can be invested in but not bought. Elite Fitness Training has programmes for all budgets, from online programmes, to personally created programmes and face to face training. As you can see, we get results fast and it’s also fun and educational along the way.

This is no short-term fix, but a process created to promote regular long-term progression. Check these guys out in three months time and I promise they will not be piling the weight back on like these ‘celebrity quick-fix body transformation programmes.

Chris’ final thoughts
I can’t thank Darren of Elite Fitness Training enough. He is the bee’s knees and has transformed the way I think about fitness.

This programme I have followed is a three month plan, created by Darren and modified depending on the individual. It’s not easy. If you are not prepared to commit to it and try your best, then this is not for you. I decided to go for it and the results are there for you to see for yourselves.

Darren has given me my life back - something money can’t buy. I also need to thank Helen who has been a rock for me during this challenge. It has helped lots that I have had a training partner going through the same pain and temptation throughout. I also want to ask everyone who has been helped by this blog to please consider making a donation to the charity I did this for - Forever Manchester. Here’s why I chose Forever Manchester.

20 years of regeneration has changed the face of modern Manchester. Implausibly wealthy football clubs, the Trafford Centre, Salford Quays, Manchester International Airport, a redeveloped, modern city centre, academic excellence and a proven ability to stage world class events like the Commonwealth Games and the Manchester International Festival.

Yet many of our local neighbourhoods are amongst England's most deprived, marginalised through poverty, ill health, isolation, abuse and sometimes just by being born on the wrong side of the fence. Did you know that in Greater Manchester around 200,000 people live in disadvantaged circumstances?

But there are thousands of people who epitomise that Mancunian spirit of change; people who spot things that are going wrong in their street and want to do something about it - running a boxing club in their spare time, showing people how to grow their own food on an allotment, taking young people off the streets and changing their lives.

These local people need cash, not for themselves, but for equipment, hiring venues and paying bills. Forever Manchester raises money locally and invests it in grants to support these local people who are making change and improving our communities, forever.

I have raised £150 so far and want to reach £1000 if I can, so every pound helps.

Donate here.

If you would like a specific four or 12 week training programme to follow that’s designed for you, or would like regular support each week or month via some online coaching and programme design, just like Helen has, then just add your details here.

Well done! Incredible results - you may not be front page material for Men's Health yet - but you have got a lot closer in 4 months than I though you would. It's been great to read how you have both done it.
