Walk a mile in high shoes

Marathons, triathlons, runs and races are probably the most un-glamourous events you can take part in, aside from childbirth. Not normally a time for make-up and heels, it's a case of scrape your hair back and prepare to sweat.

As the name suggests, this is a new take on the traditional fun run – all participants must at least begin and finish the heel-a-thon in their heels, with their poser pride intact.

Until now that is. On Sunday 27 September, the UK's first ever heel-a-thon will take place in Leeds. Women contenders, and some intrepid men, will slip into their favourite heels to raise money for Breast Cancer Haven.

As the name suggests, this is a new take on the traditional fun run – all participants must at least begin and finish the heel-a-thon in their heels, with their poser pride intact.

The heel-a-thon will begin outside Breast Cancer Haven in Leeds. The 1.24 mile route will navigate around the Clarence Dock area of the city and return to a hero’s welcome, complete with pink carpet, in the courtyard outside Breast Cancer Haven. The rest of the day will be filled with fun, food, family activities and much more.

If you fancy getting a group of girls or guys together for a day out with a difference, £20 each will cover your entrance fee and get you a very fetching event T-shirt which you can then customise. There'll be goody bags at the end of the day, plus lots of treats and competitions and the chance to rub shoulders with special celebrity guests.
