Jenny Massage Me

IT’S probably not so difficult to imagine sitting at your desk, in front of your computer, for hours on end with a sore back and a crick in your neck. It’s a common ailment in this day and age.

Now imagine a masseur easing those aches and pains away without you even having to leave the office.

She correctly assessed that I was right-handed and wore my bag on my right shoulder, both conducive to wonky posture and a jutting out shoulder.

All you have to do is say: “Jenny, massage me,” (or look at her website www.jennymassage.me) and like a nimble-handed genie, she will come.  For £50 per hour Jenny will bring her expertise and massage chair to your place of work and treat four people for fifteen minutes each; quick and simple, but sure to put a smile on your face and a spring in your step.

Stress, fatigue and muscle pain can cost businesses thousands of pounds each year due to employees being off sick, so this is a great way to get a little R&R.

If you fancy a longer treatment, on Wednesdays Jenny has a treatment room in the beautiful Milton Hall on Deansgate, where she practices remedial massage.

Remedial massageRemedial massage

Remedial massage is one of the oldest forms of massage and is used to treat a wide range of physical and emotional ailments. It can help the body to indulge in deep relaxation and assist in the healing of physiological and emotional conditions. Amongst the kind of ailments it can help are blood pressure, depression, sciatica and arthritis.

Before she became a practitioner, Jenny was a patient and so understands the benefits of remedial massage first hand. She is certainly very thorough.

When I entered the massage space she first gave me an initial assessment and asked about any specific pain I may have. She then went through a form with me to ensure that I was suitable for remedial massage. Before commencing the treatment, Jenny asked me to stand with my back to her while she assessed my posture. She correctly guessed that I was right-handed and wore my bag on my right shoulder, both conducive to wonky posture and a jutting out shoulder.

The treatment room is a very relaxing space, with dim lighting, and it resonates relaxing vibes. The massage itself concentrated on my achy spots and I felt myself drift away.

Once she had finished the treatment, Jenny handed me an ‘aftercare’ postcard which outlined recommendations to ensure maximum benefit of the treatment and reactions I may experience as a result of it. Needless to say, the only reaction I had was the urge to factor in more time for massages in future.

At the moment, Jenny is offering a half price discount for your first treatment. Otherwise massages cost £20 for 30 minutes, or £30 for 1 hour. For more details see her website: jennymassage.me
