MARY PORTAS has, this week, launched her Clarkes shoe range in Manchester. The ‘Queen of Shops’ made an appearance at the Market Street store on Wednesday 5 October, welcoming 500 customers who attended the free event to ask Mary their style questions. The La Magdalene shoe has proved to be the most popular from the range, with a waiting list of over 1,000.

Mary said: “The most important thing I have tried to do is create a modern shoe collection for every part of a modern woman’s life today. Life is not about teetering about painfully on top of a pair of heels –we’ve got the kids to run after and work to get on with. The collection is about being able to look fashionable and fabulous whilst getting on with the daily grind.”

WARDROBE ANGEL IS HERE TO HELP:  If your wardrobe is in need of a touch of divine intervention, Wardrobe Angel has been devised to try and make your life easier. Stephanie Roper, a 30-year-old wardrobe merchandiser and stylist set up the company in a bid to make wardrobes work harder for us.

She said: “Women can be irrational about clothes. It is madness to think that around 50 per cent of women don’t have a pension, yet we happily go out and spend an average of £1000 per year on clothes. If women change their thinking around their clothes and their wardrobes they can make a positive effect on their financial future."

Stephanie visits people’s homes and works her way through their entire wardrobe, from shoes and clothes to bags and accessories, putting outfits together and removing anything that doesn’t work. Her aim is to maximise hidden wardrobe potential.

LEVENSHULME ANTIQUES VILLAGE, is where Body Confidential editor Lynda Moyo will be this Saturday. One of the few Antiques Centres in the North West of England, the ornate building is itself an antique.

The maze-like emporium is full of really interesting finds at cheap as chips prices, such as decorative ornaments, pine antiques, reclaimed bricks and tiles, elaborate fireplaces, stained glass, and quality hardwood antique doors. There’s even a greasy spoon café – although they call it the tea rooms. Either way, it’s certainly something for the weekend. There will be a full review on Body Confidential soon.

Located on the A6 (Stockport Road) at 965 Stockport Road, Levenshulme, M19 3NP, four miles from both Manchester and Stockport centre, Levenshulme Antiques Village is open Monday – Saturdays, 10am-5pm and 11am-4pm Sunday.
