LUCILE LINGERIE 70% SALE: From Monday 16 May – Friday 20 May luxury lingerie boutique, Lucile, will be offering up to 70 per cent off designer lingerie, nightwear and swimwear so we hear. While you may be thinking another day, another sale, rest assured this is one well worth paying attention to. Lucile boutique offers quality, feminine underwear that you just won’t find on the high street. They stock sizes 30-40 back and A-H cup. At these kind of discounts, isn’t it time you replaced those faded, fraying grey knick knacks?
REVERSIBLE BOW TIES: How dandy. And handy. Brooks Brothers – the preppy fashion retailer on the Avenue, Spinningfields, Manchester – has reversible bow ties on sale, as of this week.
Those Brooks Brothers love mixing vivid patterns and colours and the Brooks Brothers bow tie collection is yet another playful take on a classic accessory. The bow ties were designed in collaboration with male style blogger K Cooper Ray from Social Primer blog. The collection features reversible styles that can create not one, but many ways to wear the bow tie. In other words it’s BOGOF. Good job really, considering they retail at £49 each.
THE BIG BIG DAY: With the 10k done and dusted, how about a nice easy 5k? The North West Healthy Living Network is hosting a wedding themed walk and is asking people to get engaged (excuse the pun) with their health by joining up. All you have to do is vow to wear a wedding dress – men included – and log on to www.bigbigday.org.uk to sign up. No excuses either, as everyone who registers will be sent a planner, goody bag, tutu and veil.
On the day there will be live music, DJs and stalls selling or giving away healthy goodies for all the family. The event, named the BIG Big Day, will take place at Heaton Park on Saturday 25 June and aims to improve the health of at least 6,000 people in the North West of England among other very healthy things. Get involved.
PORTRAITS OF BYGONE GLAMOUR: ‘Uninvisible’ is a collection of contemporary artwork exploring the seclusion and intimacy of portraiture – particularly of beautiful female subjects.
London based artist, Paul Bennett, produces beautiful figurative paintings portraying female subjects. Interestingly, Bennett takes inspiration from magazines and advertising. However, it’s not as glossy as you might expect.
He said: “I like the paintings to have an unfinished feel about them and to communicate being incomplete when compared to what we are normally presented in our everyday relationship with mass-produced visuals. The act of taking the person out of the context of material advertising is a way in which what is left can be reinterpreted”.
‘Uninvisible’ will be showing his work in Manchester for the first time at The Lowry Hotel on Thursday 26 May – Tuesday 5 July.
