Free Express Makeovers

The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) is hosting a style event at the Trafford Centre on Friday 25 November. The event will see academics and students from the university’s fashion courses, working with professional stylists to offer free express makeovers and style advice to shoppers, including a heads up on next season’s top three trends.

"The Stylists’ Closet event will help shoppers find out what works for them, and get tips and advice that they can use for the rest of their lives."

Customers will be able to sign up for a free 30 minute style advice session where they’ll get a makeover, find out what colour palette suits them, what body shape they are, and get tips from professional stylists Emma Jade Parker and Steven Spencer, and hair and make-up experts Natasha Litwinenko and Ruth Mannion-Palmer.

Louise Smith, fashion and brand promotion lecturer, School of Art, Design and Performance, said: “We don’t always know what shapes, styles and colours suit us, and so we tend to go for clothes we like – not knowing if they actually suit us.

"The Stylists’ Closet event will help shoppers find out what works for them, and get tips and advice that they can use for the rest of their lives. The event also gives our students the chance to get practical experience from industry professionals and gain invaluable skills for the workplace.”

Customers will get to browse through an extensive rail of this season’s must-have pieces from retailers such as New Look, Evans and Next. Marks and Spencer will be providing the make-up and accessories for the makeovers. And for those who haven’t got time to break from their shopping, customers can also take away a free pack which has information on identifying your body shape, and top trends for the next two seasons.

Stylists' Closet will take place at The New Orleans Bandstand, Trafford Centre, Manchester on Friday 25 November.
