General Store In Administration

THE General Store, the clothing retail venture from Ringspun founder David Mallon, has gone into administration.

Its shop on Deansgate, in the Barton Arcade, has been closed, as Mallon blamed the financial downturn.

"It's with a heavy heart  that we had to close the General Store," he told Confidential.

"It was a great start for us to put our toe into retail and open a cool store in a fabulous building but the current horrible financial climate and a restructuring of our business just meant something had to give

"On a positive note we have opened an ElvisJesus boutique in the Trafford Centre recently and will have a Ringspun concession store in Kendals from September and the General Store will continue to live online. But as one door closes another opens with a world of opportunities."
