American Apparel Opens At The Trafford Centre

TOP Los Angeles based clothing brand American Apparel has launched its latest shop-in-shop concept at Manchester’s Trafford Centre.

The new Manchester location features over 100 of the company’s popular womenswear styles.

The brand already has a thriving store on Market Street in the city centre but the simple clothing specialists have decided to follow the success of their existing shop-in-shops concept at the original Selfridges store in London by branching out into locations at The Trafford Centre and Birmingham’s Bullring Shopping Centre.

Famous for quality cotton-staples and an ethical business model, minimising the use of sub-contractors and offshore labor (AA say that all knitting, dyeing, sewing, photography, marketing distribution and design happens at their Los Angles facilities) as well as attracting rather a lot of somewhat less-positive publicity via the controversial sexual harassment claims made against owner Dov Charney.

These new stores are an opportunity to reach new customers in the UK and provide a great shopping experience.”

The new Manchester location features over 100 of the company’s popular womenswear styles, ranging from its line of classic basics to seasonal outerwear and will be staffed by 16 new hipsters.

Brady added: “We're excited to follow up on the success of our first store-in-store at the London Selfridges. These locations allow us to reach out to a new type of consumer while maintaining the consistency in brand image that our customer base has come to expect.”

American Apparel currently operates 249 retail stores across 20 countries worldwide and employs approximately 11,000 people.
