WHEN David Beckham modelled underpants for Armani in 2008, both parties knew they were on to a winner. As we all marvelled at his perfectly hosted manhood, profits for the company doubled in the space of a year.
The new range is made up of classic cotton briefs, boxers, vests, T-shirts, pyjamas and not-so-sexy long johns.
It doesn’t take a genius to work out that anything Beckham drops his golden balls into will be lucrative. And so the Beckham Bodywear collection for H&M is born, along with a new set of images to gaze at.
The nine underwear styles for men have been ‘designed by David’s in-house team’ according to the press release – probably with a push from Posh. Victoria Beckham is the fashion designer of the family after all and having appeared alongside her husband in a later Armani campaign, she must have been more than aware that no one was looking at her in her bra so long as David’s crotch was in shot.
The new range is made up of classic cotton briefs, boxers, vests, T-shirts, pyjamas and not-so-sexy long johns – funnily enough David hasn’t bothered modelling the latter. Prices start at £7.99 for briefs and go up to £19.99 for a long sleeve T-shirt.
David Beckham said: “We spent time working on the feel, fit and style to ensure the product is not only something I would wear but one which I would be proud to put my name to. I always want to challenge myself and this was such a rewarding experience for me. I’m very happy with the end result and I hope H&M’s male customers will be as excited as I am.”
The Beckham Bodywear Collection is available from Thursday 2 February at 1,800 H&M stores worldwide, as well as online at www.hm.com/gb/
