74 Bold Street
L1 4HR
Liverpool
History
Set up by owner Kate Harris, Little Red has its roots in market stalls and was initially a shop in Grand Central alternative shopping centre in 2006. Two years ago the shop moved to its current Bold Street location, at the heart of the ‘indie’ area of Liverpool city centre.
What does it sell?
Little Red sells a great range of vintage pieces, including a range of restyled pieces. They also stock collections from young designers, showcasing the best in new talent.
Who shops there?
A great mixture of customers shop at Little Red, from students looking for affordable styles, to women in their 40s and 50s looking for well made and classic clothing and accessories.
Why shop there?
Little Red offers a relaxed atmosphere to shop in with the added bonus of great taste in music (which makes a change from the loud dance music that seems to dominate many shops in Liverpool city centre). The details of the shop’s look have been put together very well. Butterfly wallpaper, exposed floorboards, colourful chandeliers and vintage display cabinets make the shop different and interesting to browse.
The range of clothing and accessories on offer is fantastic, and I have yet to find a vintage shop with such a great selection of bags. I personally own three vintage bags from there and it took all my willpower not to buy another one I spotted whilst visiting the shop for Body Confidential. The restyled pieces offer something that little bit extra, especially if you are looking for a one off item.
Future
After the opening of the Bold Street shop two years ago, Little Red is continuing to grow despite the financial climate of the last few years. Owner Kate is looking to expand into different areas in the future, including a new website which is on its way soon. Recently, Little Red has been successful online via their Facebook page, and she would like to tap into that online market further.
Verdict
Good things come in small packages and Little Red Vintage is the prettiest little vintage shop you could ever wish for.
